Snow Visit
Today was another good day. We decided that if we were going to go to the snow that we had better do it today because Kenza the french student arrives on Tuesday so it was very lucky that the weather was bright and sunny... and cold. It was between zero and 4 deg all the way up to the mountain. The big discussion of the day wasn't the snow, the big discussion of the day was whether the mountain was a volcano or not and when that was affirmed, do you think it would blow up asked Aimee and we had running commentary about rumbles for the last half hour while we drove onto the mountain. We assured them that it would not erupt while we were on it but they were still worried right up until the time when they saw the snow. We didn't hear any more after that.
Jessica and Aimee and grumps made snow angels and we all made a snowman. We saw beautiful icicles on the long tussock, we stayed in the snow for about an hour, had a picnic lunch and the girls had a good sleep on the way home. It was a bit busy when we got home because the girls still had to watch their tv quota for the day and nana and grumps had to do some work then get the girls ready to go out to dinner - at an Italian restaurant. Jessica had pizza, Aimee had spag bol (as good as daddy's), Nana had gf carbonara and grumps had the best pizza ever - Robert and Jennifer also had excellent meals (carbonara and lasagne). And WE DIDN'T GO TO THE PUB even though it was Friday...
It was a very fun day - so much so that grumps forgot to do his rotary bulletin for the week - and can't be bothered to do it this evening either.

oh wow that looks cold and fun :)
ReplyDeleteHi Aimee and Jessica
ReplyDeleteYou picked the BEST day to go to the snow. I wish I could have been there too. It looks like you had lots of fun. Nana and Grumps were correct, the volcano did not erupt while you were on the mountain. Aren't they clever knowing that would not happen!
How cool!!! it looks like lots of fun - tho how come Nana had to wear all three scqrves? It sounds like you had an absoultely fabulous day. we wish we had been there too! we'll have to go another day when i can come =)
ReplyDeletewe have had the best day too. We started with a yummy chocolate crossaint in Paris and then took the train to Angers where Caroline met us. Then we went to a cool castle which daddy loved lots, had a walk thro some shops- i bought Grumps a present but don't tell him - and then had special pancakes called crepes for lunch: i had two - one with mushrooms and one with caramel sauce and apples; THEN we went to a vineyard run by a friend of carolines and tasted lots of yummy wines. Nozw we have just got back to carolines and are relazing before dinner =) so it's a perfect french day:
tomorrow we will go to london and see the queen's palace=)
i am so glad that you girls are having so ,uch fun! aren't nana and grumps doing a great job? it's probably a good job i got grumps a present.
i love you all lots and lots
mummy
Well, we started out with a scarf each but we didn't have girl scarves, only nana scarves and they were too long really and got in the way. And yes, we decided that we would go to the snow again next year with mummy and daddy. Aimee is impressed with pancakes for lunch!
ReplyDeleteHelen, Aimee was still worried last night and dreamed soon after going to bed that the volcano erupted when someone picked the icicles so grumps sat her on his knee in front of the fire and they had a big looooong discussion about the scientific instruments that people are watching ALL THE TIME to see the littlest signs of an eruption - signs that will come WEEKS before an eruption - also about the instruments that will tell people if there is going to be a flood from the Wanganui River and how when the people get the signs from the instruments they tell everyone over the radio so everyone knows. And she slept soundly after all that. :-)
